Gathering for Prayer and Support

Furthering the commitment of First Congregational Church to provide the message of Christ's healing presence in this world, FCC offers a monthly Gathering for Prayer and Support.  This informal hour long service takes place in the sanctuary at 7:00 P.M. on the 4th Tuesday of each month.  The format includes the sharing of joys and concerns, a time of silence, prayer, and reflection on relevant passages from scripture.  There is also an opportunity to receive the Laying on of Hands and Anointing with Oil, for those who wish to experience God's loving presence in this manner.  FCC's hope is that those who participate in this service will experience a greater sense of God's presence and support amid the storms of life, and feel the touch of God that can and will transform our lives.  Masters of Divinity student, Sandra Fischer, will lead these services with the support of Dan and Bridget.

Quotes from members who have attended the Service:

"As beautiful as the prayer is the peace that follows."

This line from an old favorite prayer response expresses how I feel about the monthly gatherings.

While there I feel the presence of God and also the love and support of friends. I know that God will be with me as

I go back out into the world and that I will not face life’s challenges alone.

There is peace after prayer.
